Game Recaps Empty Game Recaps

Week 4 Wisconsin 28 Miami 14

Wisconsin walks out victorious but suffers another huge loss. James White after only 3 carries leaves the game with a dislocated elbow and will miss 11 weeks.

Wisconsin wins with the efficient passing of Scott Tolzien and on the legs of big John Clay. After a very boring 1st quarter and 7 minutes of the second quarter exchanging punts the entire time, the Badgers finally get on the board with 10 seconds left on a 3rd and 10 from the 19. On a deep in by Jared Abbrederis, Tolzien hit him perfectly to put the Badgers up 7-0 at the half, also receiving the ball again to start the 3rd. Im not 100 percent sure but I believe wisconsin went down to open the third and scored on a 6yd run by Clay. Miami then answered on a 3rd and goal with a Harris 6 yard scramble. But Wisconsin was not to be denied this game, as they answered right back on the next drive with a 58 yard Clay TD. But as expected, Miami scored a TD their drive with a Miller 6 yard run. But Wisconsin put the dagger in the heart of Miami the very next series, started off by 2 runs netting 8 yards, and on a 3rd and 2 on their own 25, a play action bootleg, Tolzien would find a wide open FB Bradie Ewing, and he would take it to the house for 75 yards.

Stats
Passing
Scott Tolzien 10-12 191 yards 2 TD 1 int

Rushing
John Clay 27 att 214 2 TD
James White 3 att 39 yards

Receiving
John Clay 2 rec 9 yards
David Gilreath 2 rec 6 yards
Jared Abbrederis 2 rec 41 yards 1 td
Nick Toon 2 rec 38 yards
Bradie Ewing 1 rec 75 yards 1 td
Isaac Anderson 1 Rec 22 yards

I am still bitter over losing my second star running back for basically the entire season. White was averaging 13 yards a carry this game and 12 for the year. He will be missed.

Tight game turns ugly at the end. In what was a defensive battle the entire game, the badgers rode the feet of John Clay to victory. The final score was 33-21 but the game was iced on a few great defensive plays. After being tied 14-14, the badgers drove to kick a field goal with about 4 minutes left to take a 17-14 lead. After that the badger defense came out strong and forced a 3rd and 18. Michigan st converted on a nice post down the middle to get a first down looking to take the lead on this drive. But on the very next play they decided to run the ball as they were doing all day, but MLB Culmer St. Jean had a monster hit on the RB that forced a fumble and was recoverd by linebacker Chris Borland and taken to the house to get a 24-14 lead. The resulting kickoff led to a touchback, and after 2 straight CPU sacks on the Michigan St qb had them sitting at the 2, JJ Watt came up huge with a third straight sack to force a saftey with 2:19 left and a 26-14 lead Bucky. After the saftey punt, the first play as Wisconsin is looking to end the game, Clay broke one and took it 64 yards for a TD to put them away for good. a garbage td with 51 seconds left cut the lead to 33-21 but a failed onside ended the game. Another major injury suffered by the badgers as starting QB Scott Tolzien leaves with a broken finger and will be out for 3 weeks.

Scott Tolzien 6-8 94 yards 1 tD

Game Recaps Empty Comeback in Iowa leaves Wisconsin Still Undefeated

Post  tbuck0027 Tue Dec 14, 2010 9:01 pm

Even down 2 scores heading into the 4th quarter, Wisconsins run game still comes up huge and leads them to a big comeback. down 17-8 heading the 4th, John Clay pulled wisconsin within 2 points at 15 -17 with 6:17 left. Iowa then answered with a nice drive, but Sconnies d came up big and held them to a fieldgoal to keep the margin at 5 points, 15-20. Wisconsin, never abandoning its run game, then went on the drive of the season to this point, and 6 play 80 yard drive highlighted by Zach browns only carry of the game that went 58 yards, and Clays 3rd TD of the game from 1 yard out. This was at 2:09 in the fourth, and Wisconsins D gave up 1 first down, but then held them to a turnover on downs to seal the game. Clay has cemented his place at or near the top of the Heisman race with 224 yards and 3 tds, in a huge game in a hostile environment.

Wisconsin survives scare to Purdue to win 24-21. Being down 14 twice during the game at 14-0 and 21-7 proved not to be enough to keep the Badgers on track to the National Title game. On the legs of John Clays 3 Td's and 195 yards, the Badgers survive. Purdue came out smoking on there first 3 drives all resulting in quick TD's, but the Badgers defense stepped up from there and forced 2 interceptions in the second half, and basically dominated after giving up 3 scores to open the game. Clay furthermore shows why he is in the Heisman contention because even down 14, the badgers dont give up on the run game and he carried them to victory, again.

Stats
Passing
Scott Tolzien 9-14 94 yards 1 int

Rushing
John Clay 36 att 195 yards 3 tds
Zach Brown 6 att 41 yards

Receiving
John Clay 2 rec 16 yards
Lance Kendricks 2 rec 28 yards
Bradie Ewing 2 rec 11 yards
Jared Abbrederis 2 rec 16 yards
Nick Toon 1 rec 23 yards

3 more wins and the Badgers are Championship bound!
