#14 Penn St. bounces back after tough road loss with 38-23 W over conference foe #16 Iowa.
Kevin Newsome got the start and proceeded to throw 2 1stQ INT's. Devon Smith also fumbled a punt after PSU's defense held Iowa to a 3 and out on the opening possession of the game. All 3 to's resulted in FG's as the PSU def. held the Iowa offense in check. Kevin Newsome was benched in favor of Matt McGloin who came in and energized the offense throwing for over 300yds and 4td's including a 92-yarder to Evan Royster to ice the game. The defense would have been the story if it not had been for McGloin's heroics as they survived 4 to's by the offense and knocked Iowa QB Ricky Stanzi out of the game 3 seperate times. The #10 Nittany Lions host Big Ten foe Illinois in Happy Valley this week. Matt McGloin has been named the starter while true freshman Robert Bolden will serve as his backup. Newsome fell to #3 on the depth chart following back to back poor performances.
