#10 Penn St. dominates 2nd half, wins 2nd str8 Big Ten matchup 30-17 over Illinois.

Matt McGloin earned his 2nd str8 win @ QB after replacing the ineffective Kevin Newsome leading the #10 Nittany Lions to a 30-17 W over Big Ten rival Illinois. McGloin threw 2 picks in the 1st half on batted balls , one being returned for a td the other leaving the Illini with a short field as they cashed in the PSU miscue for another 7 pts. The Penn St. defense was stingy and flying around the ball bailing out the offense and keeping the game close. The game started off slow but miscues by each team in the 1st half resulted in TD's for the other team and the game was nodded up at 17 going into the half. That's when the PSU defense really turned it up a notch shutting out the Fighting Illini in the 2nd half. The offense played it safe and controlled the ball for much of the half and putting the game away in the 4thQ. Derek Moye was the star on offense and seemed uncoverable catching 7 balls for 205yds and a TD. Evan Royster added 86yds and a TD but he missed much of the 4thQ with a strained oblique. The defense racked up 4 sacks and made Illinois QB Nate Scheelhaase feel the pressure the entire game. Stephon Morris picked off 2 Sheelhaase passes and D'Anton Lynn shutdown the other side of the field coming away with 4 pass defs. Next up for the Nittany Lions is a trip to Minneapolis to face the struggling Minnesota Golden Gophers. A 3-0 Big Ten start for PSU looks very likely.
